Dog toys serve two purposes, entertainment and fun. While these may seem similar, it is important to have toys that fit both goals. Entertaining toys are those which are designed to keep dogs occupied during the day, while fun toys are best selected for playtime.
Please keep in mind that your dog has a much longer list of potential toys than you can imagine. Items ranging from expensive purses and shoes to dirty socks have immense appeal. Be careful about where you leave your valuables when a puppy, young dog, or chewing dog is around. Let them know what to chew in order to avoid them making the wrong selection.
Interactive and Entertaining - these are the toys which will keep your dog occupied during the day. A great way to keep him happy while reducing behavior problems such as digging and excessive barking.
Fun and Games - these are the toys that are best for supervised playtime. Balls, plush toys, squeakers, and more will catch your dog's eye and get her excited to play. Do not let your dog destroy these toys as the squeakers inside pose a potential choking hazard.
